Connecting Your amp Device to Wi-Fi

The new Wi-Fi feature lets your amp device connect directly to your home network.

Updated over 2 months ago

Once connected, your device can send diagnostic logs automatically and prepare for future features, all without you needing to do anything extra.

Why connect to Wi-Fi?

Connecting your amp device to Wi-Fi means:

  • Automatic diagnostics – our support team can see device health instantly if you need help.

  • Future firmware updates – coming soon, your device will update itself over Wi-Fi.

  • No extra steps for troubleshooting – no more sending logs manually through the app.

  • Future features – remote settings changes, subscription management, and more.

Who can use it?

  • New users – Wi-Fi setup is included in onboarding. You can choose to connect or skip.

  • Existing users – You’ll get a push notification when it’s available for you. Once it is, you can find it in:
Profile → Integrations (while connected to your amp device).

We’re rolling this out gradually. If you don’t see the Wi-Fi option yet, it may not be enabled for you just yet.

What networks work with amp Wi-Fi?

✅ Supported:

  • 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks

  • Most standard encryption types (WPA/WPA2)

  • Hidden networks (must enter name and password exactly)

❌ Not supported:

  • WPA3 networks

  • Wi-Fi networks with a captive portal (e.g., hotel or gym Wi-Fi that requires a browser login)

How to connect

  1. Make sure your amp device is powered on and connected to the amp app.

  2. Go to Profile → Integrations in the app.

  3. Select Wi-Fi Connection.

  4. Choose your network from the list or select Add network for a hidden one.

  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password (case-sensitive).

  6. Wait for the app to confirm connection.

Good to know

  • You don’t need your phone on the same Wi-Fi network to connect your amp device.

  • Your device can only store one network at a time.

  • If Wi-Fi is down, you can still work out:

    • If your phone has mobile data, the app works as normal.

    • Without a connection to mobile data or Wi-Fi, you can still use the device without the app.

  • Your Wi-Fi connection is secure. We only collect device usage data, not personal files or browsing history.

Troubleshooting tips

  • Update to app version 1.20+.

  • Check that your network is supported.

  • If using a hidden network, type the name exactly as set on your router.

  • If the connection fails, the app will tell you, the device dial will not show an error.
